In my last post I mentioned the Greater Double-collared Sunbirds feeding in a flowering tree as we made our way along the path up the valley. Here are a couple of images showing the lovely colours and textures of their plumage that cannot be fully appreciated in real life due to their small size and rapid movements. Interestingly, despite being in a tree full of flowers, and spending most of their time feeding on nectar they were still actively gleaning for insects and spiders under lichens on the branches. Both images with Nikon D800 and 500mm F4 lens.
