While walking Hahei beach watching birds, the Dotterels dominated the landward view and Gannets the seaward. At one stage a school of baitfish triggered a dive that brought other Gannets from far and wide and we had a few opportunities to photograph dive sequences not far from shore.
Images were shot with a Nikon D500 and Nikon 500mm f5.6PF lens. The top image shows the Gannet turning into the dive and then a 10fps burst of the dive trajectory. Shot in manual exposure all files were synchronised to the same RAW process in Lightroom before being exported into Photoshop as layers. Layers were manually moved into place indexed on the background cloud formations.
