I recently received an email via my website which was right out of the blue. The best way to share it is by copying the content of the email;
“I wanted to reach out and express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible content you share on your blog.
Your photos and articles have been a huge inspiration for our latest project, “Life in the Sub-Antarctic Campbell Island – The Weather Station Years.”
Your work has helped shape the wildlife-themed songs in our album, featuring the Campbell teal, yellow-eyed penguin, and Wildflowers Megaherbs. Collaborating with a Metservice workers stationed on the island in the 1980s added authenticity to our project.
Our album is now available on major streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube. I hope you’ll get the chance to listen, knowing your website was part of the inspiration. Additionally, our songs are royalty-free on YouTube, should you ever wish to use them with your photos or videos.
Thank you once again for your impactful contribution to our creative journey.

I found this very touching as it resonates with a place very close to my heart – Campbell Island in the New Zealand Subantarctic. It was nice to feel that my images and writing had been a resource in a creative work by someone who shares my enthusiasm for the island. My blog with images and writing is largely a personal discipline that gives me an opportunity to relive my pleasure of past experiences. It gets fired out onto the internet with no expectation that anyone even sees it but I episodically get some very encouraging/appreciative feedback and this was one of those times.
The next email in my inbox was this;
“Oops, I was too busy writing the email. I forgot to share the link.

As I write this I am listening to the music via Apple Music and it really evokes feelings of the island and wildlife. For fellow lovers of the subantarctic and especially Campbell Island, I would encourage you to listen and spread the word so all who would enjoy this creative work have a chance to share the experience.
If you would like to revisit my Subantarctic experiences, the posts are available from this Subantarctic masterlink.
