Following my post on the Nikon Z8 with 28-400mm combination, I thought I would share an example of the new Distraction Removal tool in the latest Photoshop update.
I would love to know how much time I’ve spent waiting for people to leave a scene I’m photographing as I generally prefer uncluttered scenes. It is sometimes quite frustrating as just as things appear to be clearing others will arrive necessitating a sometime long and patient wait. The Remove Tool has a “Find Distractions” subdivided into “Wires and Cables” and “People” options.
If the Remove Tool isn’t immediately apparent access it from a fly out on the “healing brush” option.
Once selected the Remove Tool options in the tool bar allow selecting which option to use.
The “remove people” option will be a useful tool for me to clean travel images after the event. I have not yet had an opportunity to try the “wires and cables” option but have in the past spent a fair amount of time doing this manually so anticipate this will episodically save me some time.
If you would like a to watch a video covering this Matt Kloskowski has a good one here. I have long followed Matt for good Lightroom and Photoshop information and can recommend him as a source of up to date info.
